Microdermabrasion FAQS
What Is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a facial procedure that uses topical and manual exfoliation to remove the outer layer of skin. This process works in a series to reduce hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and acne scars through exfoliation. The client will leave the treatment with fresh and smooth skin, which will begin to repair and rejuvenate itself to treat a number of skin concerns.
What Can I Expect from a Treatment?
Within a microdermabrasion treatment, the skin will first of all be cleansed with a cleanser appropriate to each skin type. The skin is then thoroughly toned and dried. The entire microdermabrasion procedure should take roughly 40 minutes, and it will conclude by toning the skin, applying a treatment serum, and applying a moisturizer and SPF.
What Will Microdermabrasion Do?
Overall, microdermabrasion will reduce the appearance of wrinkles, remove acne scars, clear up blackheads, minimize the size of the pores, reduce sun damage, and even out the skin tone. Microdermabrasion also helps to boost collagen production to provide firming and toning to the complexion.
How Many Treatments Do I Need?
When it comes to microdermabrasion, one treatment will not provide optimal results. That is why it is important to have a series of microdermabrasions, and 4 to 6 are recommended for the best results. These initial 4 to 6 treatments can be spaced one week apart, and from that point, the client can continue to receive one treatment on a monthly basis for the best maintenance.
Is There Any Downtime After a Treatment?
Microdermabrasion is a safe and gentle procedure with no downtime. The client will need to protect his or her skin with moisturizer and sunblock for 24 hours after the treatment and may experience mild redness and peeling. However, the client can return to work and normal activities immediately.
